IEEE SB MUJ, in collaboration with Coding Ninjas, organized IEEE SB MUJ’s premium online coding competition Codephrenia 3.1. The students were bored sitting at home and this was a good time to do something productive and improve their coding skills. It was a great success and we saw the participation of 208 students. The event took place on 19th April 2020. The timings were from 8:00 – 9:30 PM.  

It was an hour-long competition and had 5 MCQs and 3 Coding problems. The MCQs required logical ability and the coding questions tested your coding skills.  

Students had a great experience; the problems were quite good and all students loved solving them. The platform for the competition was the Codezen by Coding Ninjas. The results were announced the next day and the top three students were featured on social media handles of Coding Ninjas.  

Mr. Manish K Tyagi is an engineer by profession, a TEDx & JOSH speaker, a retired Naval commander, an entrepreneur, and a famous stand-up comedian. He is a Postgraduate in Marine Engineering and PGD in Human Resource Management / MBA in Operations Management from Andhra University (Visakhapatnam) and IGNOU (New Delhi). 

 He has spoken at Josh Talks, 9 TEDx conclaves & is also a regular with corporate gigs and has performed for IamSMEofIndia, Madhyaam, Tata Sky, Tanishq, Tata Motors, VLCC, DSV India, McKinsey India, Cummins, various conferences, etc. 

 The speaker, Mr. Manish K Tyagi offered insights of how one can overcome any hurdle in their life. His style is full of unprecedented stories blended with wit and humour. He also spoke about his life in the Indian Navy and how he developed his leadership skills in challenging times on the sea. Additionally, Mr Tyagi expressed his journey of becoming a stand-up comedian and that one should never abandon the things the find joy in. The event concluded with a Question & Answer session where the attendees could interact with Mr. Manish Tyagi.

Open Gates to Success During Locked Times

The webinar, A Force for Space: Artificial Intelligence was organized in foresight with how humans’ curiosity quest for space can be solved using AI. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. A Q Ansari – IEEE Delhi SAC Chair, Dr.Rajveer Singh Shekhavat – Director SCIT, Manipal University Jaipur along with Dr. Arun Kumar Poonia – Assistant Professor &Assistant Director, Directorate of Students’ Welfare and Dr. Mahesh Jangid– Assistant Professor & Faculty Mentor IEEE SB MUJ.

The online event received more than 600 registrations from across India. The webinar was held on Webinar Ninjas platform which saw an audience of more than 500 people. This included many notable professors, professionals and students from various fields and colleges. 

The focus of the event was on how Artificial Intelligence has transformed space exploration and other major impacts of it. The speaker, Mr. ShreyanshDaftry also spoke of his journey to NASA and how he created opportunities for himself. Mr. Shreyansh gave a brief hindsight of his interests in robotics and how he incorporated computer science into it. He also gave an in-depth knowledge of AI can work in drones and rovers on Moon and Mars. Furthermore, he spoke of how AI can help rockets and robots reach distant planets and the future of space exploration and robotics.

The participants were able to interact with the speaker and ask questions in the field of AI, robotics and even career path. The event turned out to be a great success andthe participants were grateful to Mr. ShreyanshDaftry for sharing his knowledge and time. 

A Force for Space: Artificial Intelligence

Machine Learning has been one of the most proliferating technologies in today’s world. The rapid growth of ML & AI has helped humans achieve great things. The event focused on this topic so that young aspirants can learn more about this technology. The Speaker also highlighted the use of Computer vision which is a field of artificial intelligence that trains computers to interpret and understand the visual world. The workshop also dealt with using digital images from cameras and videos and deep learning models to make machines learn and develop accuracy.

Mr Naman Bhalla also gave the participants some career-based advice and took queries on this topic. The students were grateful for this workshop and very highly motivated.

How to Use Machine Learning in Computer Vision

Data Structures are one of the most important subjects in the field of Computer Sciences. The workshop focused specifically on Graphs which was attended by more than 200 people. The speaker, Mr Apaar Kamal gave insights into where this concept is incorporated in daily industrial use. He also gave a brief history of how graphs came into the field of computer sciences. The workshop dealt with the Bellman-Ford &FloyydWarshall algorithms. In the end, he took on questions based on this topic and interacting with enthusiastic minds. 

The workshop focused on making a Chatting application with the help of Kotlin. The participants were required to have the basic knowledge of C++ or Java. The software development was done on Android Studio and the host, Mr Pulkit gave a detailed insight into the software and the application development.

The participants were able to interact one-on-one with the host and clear their doubts as well. It was a very useful workshop where the students could develop a project to add to their portfolio.

IEEE Women in Engineering Society of Manipal University Jaipur collaborated with Coding Ninjas to host an online webinar on the topic - Machine Learning on 7th August from 8pm to 9pm. The interview was hosted by Ankur Goyel.

The webinar started off by them talking about their journey as data scientists, and elaborating on the vastness of the field. They educated the students about some interesting aspects of AI and ML along with its applications. This was followed by an interactive session with the participants, where all their queries were clarified.

The webinar was a complete success with a registration count of over 500 students, who secured knowledge on the importance of ML and also received tips on cracking interviews and placements.

IEEE Women in Engineering Society of Manipal University Jaipur collaborated with Coding Blocks to host an online workshop on Data Science - Face Detection on 19th August from 8pm to 9pm. The workshop was conducted by Coding Blocks mentor, Mohit Uniyal. 

 The workshop started off with introduction to basics of Python and its application in Data Science and Machine Learning. It proceeded with explanation of advanced python libraries like NumPy and Matplotlib, after which a model for Face Detection was rendered and tested. 

 The workshop was a successful one with over 600 attendees, who were given hands on training on how to build a face detection model. The mentor was extremely patient in answering all the doubts, and also covered some extra topics in Python which benefitted all the attendees. The workshop was a great starting point for implementing bigger projects in the upcoming field of Machine Learning and Data Science, and will surely help us in taking up more initiatives in the future as well.  

In the webinar our mentor covered the topics like introduction to SEO and Content Marketing in the digital world, how to drive leads and maximize revenues, the DOs and DON’Ts about Online-businesses and how to use Social Media at your disposal. His knowledge on current digital marketing scenarios taught a lot to the attendees and there were a lot of interesting questions by the viewers.

 The webinar was attended by over 100 attendees and our mentor answered all the questions asked in the comment section. All the attendees got information about how they can promote and sell their products online. Attendees also got an e-certificate for attending the webinar. It was a very insightful event explaining all nooks and corners of Digital marketing.

The event was organized keeping in mind the importance of design and interface has become in the growing market world. The participants were enthralled to learn of the opportunities and scope of the field. Our speaker, Mr. Punit Chawla shared his own experiences of how he began his journey and his learning curve. The event also focused on a hands-on session of using Adobe XD to make captivating mobile app prototype. There was also an interactive session for participants to ask their own questions that were answered by Mr. Punit Chawla. The participants were grateful for this event and were amazed by the opportunities the field of UI/UX designing can provide. 

IEEE Women in Engineering Society of Manipal University Jaipur in collaboration with WITech India hosted an online webinar on “Virtual Reality Converge with Robotics” and “Robotics Process Automation” on 26th August from 5pm-8pm. The workshop was conducted by WITech India speakers, Annalyn F Aban and Vrinda Jain . 

In the webinar our mentor covered the topics like introduction to Robotics and it’s use in reality and in virtual medium, especially how it has been even more useful during the COVID-19 pandemic. This interactive webinar combined interesting talks on Robotics, Technical Input and Practical, Hands on Experience. The participants were also taught about Robotic Process Automation how it is a technology to execute a business by integrating human actions into a robot. It also comprised the basics of using Virtual Robotics Toolkit. The webinar was followed by an interactive session of Q&A where the participant’s curiosity was satisfied by the experts.

The webinar was well-attended and our mentor was friendly and explained the concepts brilliantly. Attendees also got an e-certificate for attending the webinar. It was a very insightful event explaining all nooks and corners of Robotics Industry.

IEEE Women in Engineering Society of Manipal University Jaipur in collaboration with Hult Prize MUJ organised an  Article writing Contest  from 01stSep to 10th September. The competition aims to inculcate the qualities of critical thinking and analysis thereby stimulating creativity among the participants.

As a part of our Contest, we asked students to write an article on any one of the topics with a minimum word limit of 200 words-

The response for the contest was phenomenal with participation from colleges all over the country. In the category of “Indian Education System, College life and Covid-19” the winner is Sriniket Sondur, for “Economical crisis Management”, the winner is Rajat Sikchi and for our most popular category, “Feminism and Pseudo Feminism” the winner is Indu Singh Tanwar”.

All the winning articles are published on our WIE Publication on Medium and everyone will be awarded a certificate of participation. We learnt a great deal about the thoughts of the youth on important topics of discussion and we hope the published articles will help initiate conversation amongst everyone.  

IEEE Women in Engineering Society of Manipal University Jaipur in collaboration with Hult Prize MUJ hosted an Interactive Session on 05th September from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. The webinar was conducted Educator, Writer and also  the founder of Scholar Strategy(a study abroad consultancy) ,Nistha Tripathi.  

 In the webinar our mentor covered the topics like admission criteria ,application process abroad, Profile building and  also roadmap about pursuing bachelors abroad . Our mentor also briefed us about how aptitudes set forward an individual regardless of scores through examples from her own life. Aside from this our mentor also depicted her experience writing books. There were a lot of interesting questions by the attendees.

 The webinar was attended by over 100 attendees and our mentor answered all the questions asked in the comment section. The session provided an overview to students about pursuing higher studies abroad. It was an exceptionally a right platform clarifying all niches and corners of Career Planning and profile building.

Data Structures are one of the core fundamentals of Computer Sciences. These help you design complex software, design applications, and solve multiple problems. Data Structures are the key part of many computer algorithms as they allow the programmers to do data management in an efficient way. A right selection of data structure can enhance the efficiency of computer program or algorithm in a better way.
 
 The event focused on explaining each of the topic under Data Structures and distinguishing them while explaining the real life use of it. The participants were also taught about the importance of these topics in terms of placements. This was an interactive session where the participants could ask their own doubts and get them resolved.

In the webinar our mentor covered the topics like what is Cryptocurrency, what is the role of Blockchain and much more. His passion and grasp in the field of cryptocurrency and blockchain filled the attendees with a new zest toward the topic and a lot of insightful questions were put up which made things clearer to the viewers.

 The webinar was attended by over 44 attendees and our mentor answered all the questions asked in the comment section. The attendees were benefited by great measures – they were enlightened and many of decided to take this topic on full time and saw a future in the field. They were provided by the initial spurt required, by the webinar. Attendees also got an e-certificate for attending the webinar. It was an enriching experience for the attendees along with the organizers.

Codephrenia Season 1 Episode 1 is a monthly competitive coding competition which involves programming enthusiasts to test their coding knowledge. Competitive programming is important because as technology becomes more advanced, societies will need to adjust, and algorithm contests can help that transition. Codephrenia involves participants to compete in the programming language of their choice to solve problems using concepts that can eventually help you solve real-life industrial problems.
 IEEE SB MUJ’s Codephrenia was an event open to all the students. The competition’s duration was of 1 Hour and 30 minutes. The winner’s skills were rewarded with cash prize and with CodeChef Laddus.

Ignited Minds 2.0 was the feature event to celebrate the annual IEEE Day. Considering the unique circumstances of 2020, this year’s IEEE Day’s event was held virtually on the 5th and 6th of October. The theme for the quiz was based on business-technology to incorporate the growing field of technology which is going in hand in hand with multinational conglomerates.

 The event was attended by many enthusiastic and bright students who were competing right until the last question. Not only did the quiz test their knowledge but it also helped them learn additional concepts and trivia. The competition was conducted over 2 rounds and the winners were awarded cash-prizes to acknowledge their efforts and knowledge. IEEE Day is a special day to celebrate the essence of technology and the people behind it that have helped mankind to reach what we are today. It was a fruitful event, and such events shall continue to ignite young minds eternally.

The workshop began with a discussion on how COVID-19 has affected our lives, and the Indian Economy. It proceeded with a detailed discussion on what finance really means, and how and where to wisely invest with due respect to current economic conditions. This was followed by a Q&A, where students clarified their doubts.

 The mentor was brilliant in the subject and in answering all the doubts, and also educated the students briefly about investments in gold, stock market and real estate. The workshop was a great initiative for students to learn about the essential role of finance in our lives and will surely help us in making wise investments in the future.

Financial Stability in life & Financial Condition during COVID

The event was based on the importance of job opportunities involving the field of data science and machine learning and the ability to work in the field on Computers from a Non-CS background. The participants were enthralled to learn of the opportunities and scope of the field and the interactive session for participants provided them lots of insight on this field. The event also focused on placement interviews and the questions and requirements that multinational companies look at before hiring software developers.

IEEE Women in Engineering Society of Manipal University Jaipur in collaboration with Progate organised a  Progate’s 40 hours of HTML/CSS  from 31stOctober to 1st November. The event aims to help our participants begin their web development journey.

Web development is a great career choice. You should have a general programming skill set to begin your career in the web world. As a part of our event, we asked our participants to join Progate team and register themselves for the  event. We also asked our participants to join the WhatsApp group for important notifications. The participants were asked to complete the study1 of HTML/CSS to receive access for further study.

The response for the event was phenomenal and impressive from all our participants from various colleges. All the queries and doubts of participants regarding the study were clarified by the team of progate. Every participant was offered certificate upon completion the course. The outcomes of the event show that  all of our participants have an abundance of thoughts, creativity and this  course will certainly help them  build captivating websites.
